Following the lead from the State House with its 83-20 vote, today the Alabama State Senate passed Governor Kay Ivey’s rushed “gas tax” with a 28-6 vote.
This tax has been in the works behind the backs of voters and tax payers for months if not longer; however, Governor Ivey only proposed her 10¢ per gallon gas hike on February 27, just 2 weeks ago. The tax “would be indexed to keep up with the rising cost of rebuilding roads.” Yeah. Right.
Do you really believe that? I most certainly do not! This backdoor tax is yet another way our corrupt state government will scam money away from tax payers, this time under the facade of repairing our roads and highway infrastructure. Now if that were true, this would be all fine and dandy, but I don’t for one second believe 100% of the collected tax will be used for that.
As you can tell, I vehemently oppose this tax. I do not appreciate how our Governor and State Legislators rushed this tax through. Below, I have listed the names of all State Representatives and State Senators who voted yes on this tax hike. I don’t know about you, but I will do my part in contacting my representatives and expressing my displeasure with them. Furthermore, I will not be voting for any of the individuals listed below for re-election or for any future office.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Not a single one of you will be getting another second chance from me.
